I was in hospital for four days with appendicitis and it was my first time there so I was pretty surprised when they told me that there was a school! I improved on my 9x table and learnt alot on Alexander Bell while being in the QMC. My teachers will certainly be impressed. Thank you! I recommend the QMC Hospital School to friends and family as a calm and caring place where they don't put pressure on you when you're not feeling up to it.

I have been in hospital for nearly three months, first on E37 and then on D33. In both cases I went to the Hospital School, to the main one and to the classroom on D33. I am home schooled and thought I would find it strange or even difficult to spend time in a classroom with different teachers and children. However, I found it much easier than expected and found it a rewarding experience. The teachers are all very friendly and supportive, and even though I am used to organising myself and carried on doing my work from home, they were very happy to help me and were there when I got confused or stuck on something. They were exceptionally helpful when my doctor said I could not go to Loughborough to take my R.E GCSE which I had chosen to take three years early and had studied constantly and very hard for all last year. Mrs Overend said I could take it at the Hospital as it is a registered exam centre, and we did not even have to pay for a private invigilator as Mrs Coalwood, the Education Centre Manager, said she would do it for me. I am really glad about this as otherwise I would have had to wait possibly another whole year. Although I am home schooled, I think that if all schools could be like the hospital school I would consider going. Everyone is enthusiastic, wanting to help you and being generally kind and nice. You are not put into classes, but get the chance to meet all different ages and abilities and genders of children. Everyone encourages your interests and does not put you down or say that the things you like to do are silly or a waste of time. For example, I enjoy sewing, and when I told the teachers this Judith set about doing a full - scale sewing project with me. The teachers make sure we do a balance of work, even though they help us to do our favourite things they also make sure we do the more academic aspects, like Maths, English and Science. If all schools had this atmosphere I think all children would like them! Thank-you to all the teachers!

I've been coming to the D34 ward for the last 10 years and I have found the teachers very kind and helpful. When you need them they are always around.

At the QMC I had a lot of interesting things to make and do and I liked the finger knitting and geo-safari best. All the nurses where very kind and friendly and I had a very nice time with Judith.

I've been here for a week almost. The teachers are kind and keep you busy with lots of activites so you're never bored. It's great fun!!!!, I love the stuff they do. They also do the lessons that you're supposed to be doing at school.
