2. Ward E38 & Ward E39
The main aim of the school on E38 and E39 is not only to provide continuity of education so that pupils do not fall behind with their schoolwork but also to give support and encouragement and to have fun!
As far as is possible the National Curriculum is followed but, it is not only academic work that you will find in school.
For those children and young people who are unable to leave the ward a variety of activities are taken to the bed-side. If pupils are able to leave the ward they will find a fully stocked classroom and an outside play area to work in and enjoy.
The classroom is for all ages and abilities and we teach all subjects. Contact with the home school is made whenever required and young people can keep in touch with their school friends via the internet from the classroom.
Schooling is very flexible and we try to fit in with hospital regimes so coming to school does not have to be for a full session. If the ward needs one of our pupils then we can ensure that they are returned to the ward for treatment.
